Ugh

Borked up some commands on my home file server tonight and lost 3TB worth of stuff... Photo library, gone. Software backups, gone. DVD rips, gone. I'm gonna cry now...

Yikes! So Sorry!

I was just thinking about this kind of problem this week, actually, when I ran into a post by someone advising that you do your backups on large solid state drives... and that you have two of them which you swap back and forth regularly.

While I understand the logic... WOW would that be expensive.

Yeah, I can't imagine trying to do backups to SSDs. While incredibly fast, those suckers are EXPENSIVE!

One of these days I'll get around to finally writing a post about the Fusion-io ioDrive we picked up for work. Incredibly fast, but just 80GB for $3k.

With a day's hindsight, it's not TOO bad.. the good photos are on Flickr already. The DVD rips will need to be re-done, but I've still got the originals. The sucky part is the various software license keys that were stored there from online purchases over the years. Ugh.

I guess saying "That Sucks" would be an understatement?? Bummer...I've done my fair share of deleting stuff when I shouldn't have...sigh...SO frustrating.
