Parades were never like THIS as a kid!

I didn't take this picture, but I everyone I think everyone will want to take a long, close look at it.

Dave Winer headed out to the "How Berkeley Can You Be" parade in Berkeley, CA on Sunday. His pictures of the various parade participants are pretty good (I love a good Art Car), but it's the parade watchers that caught me up.

Strangely, it took me a minute of viewing the picture to catch it. I was mainly squinting to see if the people in the pink sequins were male or female. Even more strangely, I'm feeling sort of let down that they APPEAR to be female...

Note first, that noone no one else around seems to notice. Note second, the donning of the rather large backpack. Note third, the topping off of the outfit with the traditional black socks and shoes.

Somewhere in the heartland of America, a conservative's head has just exploded. I knew California was different, and that Berkeley was a whole different species of different, but...

Meh, you can see the same thing in atlanta during gay pride. I'm conservative and the only thing that makes my head blow up is you don't realize noone is two words.

Mom never would have let us go again if we'd seen that at a parade!

This doesn't parse either. Maybe I _think_ everyone will want to take a long, close look at it.
